Comment to Anne:

Edwin has left a new comment on your post "From Anne in Chicago:":

As I live in the southeast, I am making plans to support Obama in SC on the 26th. Just as important as supporting Obama is developing a progressive infrastructure throughout the nation that will be ready every four years to help the most progressive and viable candidate win the Democratic primary.

As I see it, the fact that 25% of Obama's contributions are from donors giving under $200, as compared to Hillary's 13% (source: opensecrets.org), means that he will retain twice the freedom she has from large donors giving over$2300; Obama 46% vs Hillary 63%. While it is good that Edwards has 28% of his donations from individuals giving less that $200 (source: opensecrets.org), it is important to note that Obama has garnered almost three times as many people to give to his campaign (source: opensecrets.org). This makes Obama the more viable candidate.

I am in the Obama camp in the hope of granting the Office of the President the greatest freedom it has enjoyed from large donors to election campaigns. However, for the labor of progressives in this campaign to be long lasting we must look to the future. To support the development of the infrastructure to support this and future progressive candidates in Democrat primaries the following page exists to collect resources for this effort.
