Not only does Cheney enjoy giving the impression that he is “loony enough to pull off an attack on Iran before leaving office,” Vice is loony enough to do it! While I adore the humor and sarcastic tone of Ms. Dowd’s columns, this is a very serious and scary time for America. Bush and Cheney do not think in the same terms as the vast majority of the U.S. population. Neither is running for re-election, and they don’t seem to care about the fate of their party in the 2008 elections.

The signs are all there: Labeling the Kuds force as a terrorist organization, Bush’s “World War III” scenario, and Darth Vader’s fist-shaking, saber-rattling warning to Iran. The Congress needs to be on red alert for any moves in Iran’s direction the administration might make in the coming months. Bush and Cheney are backing themselves, and America, into a very dangerous corner.
