“How to Cool the Globe” NY Times Op/Ed published on 10/24/07
Shooting particles into the stratosphere might be a nice idea, but don’t tell George Bush, Dick Cheney or the leaders of China and India. It will divert them from what really needs to be done; improving gasoline efficiency, developing nuclear, solar, wind and other alternative sources of energy, initiating heavy gasoline taxes to encourage the building and use of more hybrid vehicles, imposing carbon taxes on polluters, and launching a global initiative that places mandatory controls on greenhouse gas emissions, with heavy fines for violation.
It may be late in the game, but America needs to lead the world in an all-out effort to save our planet.
